What's HANDAYA RAVE

The Handaya Rave Crew hails from Sendai, Japan, home of great music and delicious beef tongue. The main function of the Crew is holding outdoor raves, but they also make their way into the city every now and then. Including pre-Handaya Rave activities, the Crew has been around since 1998.

The first Handaya Rave was held near the end of 2004, with the goal of creating a place for independent musicians to showcase their talents. With artists from a number of different fields performing, Handaya Rave has also become not just a great music event, but also a great place to make connections. The Crew also prepared and released a compilation CD, “Handaya Rave ‘04”, with contributions from the artists who had performed at the event, a tradition which has continued with subsequent Raves. The Crew are extremely grateful for the opportunity to create and release these compilations. Sales of each Handaya Rave compilation are an integral part of funding future Handaya Rave events.

Handaya Rave is an outdoor rave held in the homeland of the Handaya restaurant chain, Sendai. The first Handaya Rave was held in the winter of 2004.

“Electronic music” as a genre encompasses a very broad scope of styles, so rather than attempting to become an event for a certain type of music, Handaya Rave strives to be an event where cafeteria-style restaurant enthusiasts can gather and perform whatever type of music they like.
